Storm Intercept Summary

During today's chase, I played more of a local storm spotter's role.  Storms fired up during the afternoon/evening, and continued after dark.  The Storm Prediction Center put most of Southeast Kansas under a Slight Risk of severe thunderstorms, and a 5% risk of tornadoes.  After storms developed, I just wondered around Crawford County, Kansas from storm to storm to see what I could see.  The best storm I saw of the day was between Mulberry and Arcadia, Kansas.  I saw a small non-rotating wall cloud with this storm.  I later ran into some dime sized hail approximately 4 miles west of Arcadia with another storm that had developed.  Storms continued developing after dark, and I witnessed another wall cloud approximately 2 miles north of Arma, Kansas, along U.S. 69 highway.  I followed this feature towards Ft. Scott, Kansas, but it had finally dissipated several miles south of Ft. Scott.  This wasn't a bad day of chasing, as everything I saw was less than thirty miles away from home.  I love chasing/spotting in my own backyard.
