Storm Intercept Summary

Today started off with a High Risk of severe thunderstorms in West Central Kansas, so I talked my dad into going out that direction to hopefully see Mother Nature at its greatest.  We headed west on U.S. 400 Highway through Wichita, and then to the Northwest towards Hutchinson, Kansas.  From there we headed due West towards my target of St. John, Kansas in Stafford County Kansas.  By the time we got this far West, storms started firing to our Southwest.  Storm speeds at 40-45 MPH did not look too promising for us to keep up with any storms  we made contact with.  We saw our first tornado warned storm in Southeastern Edwards County Kansas near Trousdale, Kansas.  We made the most of our only contact we had with this storm by seeing a couple of impressive wall clouds, but no tornadoes.  This tornado warned storm raced off to the Northeast, and to our disspointment we could not keep up with it.  This storm went on to drop several tornadoes several miles to our Northeast.  On our way home, we had to make a detour  through North Wichita, Kansas, since there was tornado on the ground in Southeast Wichita.
